Where do lovebirds want to spend their Valentine’s Day weekend? InsureMyTrip analyzed data provided by online booking sites to discover some of the U.S. cities couples are craving to visit the most.

So if you’re seeking a last-minute romantic getaway or just looking for an excuse to spend some alone time with your sweetheart, check out these hot domestic destinations that couples have apparently fallen in love with, like Chicago and Dallas.

Las Vegas: Sin City is the most searched domestic destination for couples looking for a weekend getaway, according to Expedia. It also ranks high with Booking.com users.

Why Las Vegas is hot: With an average room rate of $129 and 147, 238 hotel rooms on tap, there’s no shortage of accommodations for budget-friendly lovebirds. And, when couples aren’t trying their luck at one of the mega- casinos, they can explore an endless array of around-the-clock entertainment.

New Orleans: Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River, this proud Louisiana city known for its vibrant music scene and mild temperatures is another top pick for mid-February.

Why New Orleans is hot: At night, couples take hand-holding strolls over to the French Quarter neighborhood to enjoy trombone-friendly jazz at Frenchman Street music clubs. There are also over 1,400 restaurants, including many French-style bakeries, like La Boulangerie. (And, for those wondering, the Mardi Gras parade is Tuesday, Feb. 25 this year.)

Denver: The Colorado city east of the Rocky Mountains ranks high for couples’ mid-February searches on Airbnb, Booking.com and Expedia.

Why Denver is hot: The Mile High City’s nickname alone sets the mood for romance. Starry-eyed lovers can tease the senses at Denver Botanic Gardens and tour aphrodisiac plants. Then, wind down with an afternoon tea for two at the historic Brown Palace Hotel & Spa before heading off to the Colorado Symphony. Visitors can also drive about an hour north to Loveland for the nation’s largest Valentine’s Day festival or plan a ski day at nearby slopes.

New York: “The city that never sleeps” is another top destination for couples. Booking.com says there are more search queries for NYC trips on Valentine’s Day weekend, compared with any other time in February.

Why New York is hot: The city’s hotels and restaurants roll out the red carpet for couples with a bevy of Valentine’s Day-themed packages and events to choose from. Those looking to splurge can book the Hästens Ultimate Sleep Suite at Lotte New York Palace (pictured here) and enjoy dinner for two prepared in-suite by Executive Chef Cedric Tovar.

And, for those searching for a perfect spot to get down on bended knee (wink, wink), consider The Rink at Rockefeller Center. The skating ring offers exclusive “engagement” ice time for those looking for that perfect proposal setting.

Los Angeles: L.A. is one of the hottest picks for couples this Valentine’s Day, according to search data from Expedia.

Why L.A. is hot: This Southern California city has effortlessly climbed its way to the top of couples’ bucket lists thanks to famous restaurants, museums, and an endless event calendar.

Consider kicking off a romantic evening at the bohemian-chic Mama Shelter LA for cocktails, and grab a rooftop selfie with the iconic Hollywood sign in the distance before heading to Century City’s Eataly for a hands-on cooking class – or a cake decorating session at Duff’s Cakemix in Pasadena. In the morning, hike together at Griffith Park. And, while you’re there, don’t be surprised if you bump into a celebrity or two.

San Francisco: Sweethearts adore this West Coast city. San Francisco, in Northern California, attracts visitors with its picturesque waterfront, soaring golden gate bridge, and thriving art scene.

Why San Francisco is hot: It’s no secret that San Francisco has a way of charming its guests. “I left my heart in San Francisco” became the signature song for Tony Bennett – and it’s become a favorite destination for couples, too. high marks for senior travelers.
